DPDT Practice Begins

The firm formally commenced practice at the Department of Patent, Industrial-Design and Trademark (DPDT), establishing direct expertise in trademark and patent prosecution under Bangladesh law.

WIPO National Consultant

Md. Jumon Ali was appointed Ex-WIPO National Consultant for the Rangpur Shataranji Brand Protection Project — providing technical assistance to artisans on trademark protection and IP asset commercialization.

India IP Moot Court — 3rd Place

Md. Jumon Ali represented Bangladesh at the IP Law Moot Court Competition in India, organized by the Service Export Promotion Council under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, securing 3rd place among competing nations.

Women SME IP Advocacy

The firm advocated for Women SME Entrepreneurs in Bangladesh for brand protection, in collaboration with WIPO — extending IP education and legal support to underserved entrepreneurs.

Understanding IP Law in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has a growing and maturing intellectual property legal framework. The country is a signatory to key international IP treaties including TRIPS (Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights), the Paris Convention, and the Berne Convention — all administered through the WTO membership Bangladesh holds since 1995.

Bangladesh's primary IP office, the Department of Patents, Industrial-Designs & Trademarks (DPDT) under the Ministry of Industries, administers trademark, patent, and industrial design registrations. Copyright matters are handled by the Copyright Office under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

As Bangladesh approaches its LDC (Least Developed Country) graduation, the IP landscape is changing significantly — particularly for the pharmaceutical sector. Our firm is at the forefront of advising businesses on how to navigate this transition and protect their innovations accordingly.
